Back in 1963
Back in 1963 when I became a teen,
Those where the really awkward years.
Seeing girls in a very different light ,
We tried to look swab and debbinear.
Got involved in sports and attended every dance,
Hoping we were cool in the clothes we'd wear.
We were young and innocent wanting to take a chance,
And wondering what life may bring to bear.
I can still recall a dance one Friday night,
We were both attending Junior High.
Participated in a twisting contest,
And finished second to a team from Minto High.
Although we didn't win I never will forget,
What happened later on that night.
Two innocent teens trying unfamiliar things,
We thought the future looked bright.
Yes, back in 1963 when I became a teen,
Those were some very awkward years.
We were very innocent and questioned things we had seen,
Learning how to face life's fears,
Yes, learning how to face life’s fears.
